Aroyewun Addresses Leadership and Youth Empowerment at Drive Innovative Africa Local Government Conference
The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Omo'oba Olalekan Aroyewun, delivered a keynote engagement at the Drive Innovative Africa Local Government Chairmen Leadership Conference held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the University of Lagos, Akoka.
The conference, organised to nurture future-focused leaders through education, innovation, enterprise, and community-centred governance, brought together young professionals, corps members, and aspiring leaders. During his session, Aroyewun spoke extensively on leadership, public governance, and the importance of building knowledge-driven communities.
He underscored the value of access to accurate information, stressing that informed leadership enhances planning, improves decision-making, and strengthens capacity to deliver sustainable development at the grassroots.
Aroyewun also highlighted the central role of youth in nation-building, noting that IBLCDA has continued to actively engage, mentor, and empower young people. “Their energy, creativity, and resilience remain core to our developmental vision,” he said, adding that the council’s programs are focused on equipping young people with confidence, skills, and clarity for the future.
The chairman further outlined how the council’s Strategic GLORY Agenda aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiatives and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda. He explained that this synergy enables the delivery of people-centred policies and community welfare projects aimed at improving the quality of life for residents of IBLCDA.
Aroyewun expressed gratitude for the platform, describing the conference as a catalyst for transformative leadership and community impact. He affirmed his administration’s resolve to continue building structures and systems that foster opportunities and secure a brighter future for citizens.
