Ebuka Obi-Uchendu Stars on Glo-Sponsored CNN African Voices Changemakers

Celebrated Nigerian broadcaster and iconic Big Brother Naija host, Chukwuebuka Obi-Uchendu, is the featured guest on this week’s edition of African Voices Changemakers, the prestigious magazine programme on Cable News Network International (CNN), sponsored by telecommunications giant Globacom.

The 30-minute documentary-style programme, anchored by award-winning Kenyan journalist Larry Madowo, spotlights Africans transforming the continent’s cultural, creative, and socio-economic landscapes. Ebuka’s episode explores his remarkable journey — from a young reality TV contestant to one of Africa’s most influential media personalities.

Born on July 14, 1982, Ebuka gained national recognition during the debut season of Big Brother Naija in 2006. Although he didn’t win, his eloquence and magnetic screen presence endeared him to audiences, paving the way for a distinguished media career that has since made him a continental household name.

His academic achievements further reinforce his profile. Ebuka holds a Law degree from the University of Abuja and a Master’s in Law, specialising in Intellectual Property, from the Washington College of Law at American University, Washington, D.C.

Beyond television, Ebuka has established himself as a fashion trailblazer. His long-standing creative collaborations with renowned designer Mai Atafo — often rooted in cultural symbolism and bold African menswear aesthetics — have influenced a new generation of style expression on the continent. He also lends his voice to youth advocacy, regularly amplifying conversations that shape the social identity and personal development of young African men, themes that feature prominently in the episode.

The programme airs on Saturday on DSTV Channel 401 at 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 noon, with repeats on Sunday at 4:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Further rebroadcasts will run on Monday at 4:00 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., and Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. The edition returns next weekend at the same time slots.
