The Institute of Security, Nigeria (ISN), has conferred the prestigious Fellowship of the Institute on Ambassador Olatutu Oladunni during its 18th Annual International Security Conference and Investiture/Induction Ceremony held on November 28, 2025. The event took place at the Faculty of Social Sciences Auditorium, University of Lagos.

This year’s conference, themed “Expanding Frontiers of Innovations in Security Enhancement and Nation Building in Nigeria,” attracted leading security strategists, academics, diplomats, traditional rulers, and other high-profile stakeholders. Deliberations centred on strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture through innovation, collaboration, and global best practices.

Ambassador Olatutu Oladunni, honoured as one of the Fellows, is widely recognized for her extensive contributions to diplomacy, intergovernmental relations, and international collaboration. She currently serves as Aide to the Chairman, Sabré West & Central Africa Region (Foreign Relations & Protocol), and Special Adviser on Foreign Relations & Head of Protocol for the Pan African American Chamber of Commerce (PAACC).

Delivering the keynote address, Ambassador Tukur Yusuf Buratai, CFR—retired Lieutenant General and former Chief of Army Staff—underscored the importance of synergy between security agencies, research institutions, and global networks to effectively address emerging threats.

Other distinguished Nigerians honoured at the ceremony included former Chief of Staff to the President, His Excellency Prof. Amb. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, CFR; Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume; and His Royal Majesty, Oba Prof. Amb. Saka Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Ambassador Oladunni described the Fellowship as a unique honour. “I have received many awards, but this one from the University of Lagos and the Institute of Security Nigeria is a special privilege. I am the youngest in this category, and for me, it is more than a ceremonial honour—it comes with responsibility,” she said. She added that the fellowship would further enhance her professional competence in international security and conflict resolution.

The conference reinforced the growing need for cooperation between academia, security institutions, traditional leadership, and international partners in confronting Nigeria’s evolving security challenges. For Ambassador Oladunni, the distinction marks a major milestone in a career anchored on diplomacy, development, and nation-building.
