Lagos, Nigeria – November 19, 2025: The Federal Government Girls College, Benin Old Girls’ Association (Fediben OGA) has congratulated one of its distinguished alumnae, Engr. Elozino Olaniyan, on her historic appointment as the first female Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern Oil and Gas.

Olaniyan, a Chemical Engineering graduate of the University of Benin, becomes the first woman to lead the company in its decades-long history—an achievement that also makes her the second Fediben alumna to head an oil and gas firm. Her appointment has been widely hailed as a groundbreaking stride for women in the country’s energy sector.

President of the Fediben OGA, Lagos Chapter Stephanie “StephREDD” Kadiri, described the appointment as a moment of pride for the association and a major inspiration for young girls.

“This achievement is more than a personal milestone; it is a moment of pride for every Fediben girl whose dreams are still unfolding,” Kadiri said. “Snr. Elo — as we fondly call her — has lifted our banner high with courage, grace, excellence, and quiet strength. As someone who succeeded her in the Lagos Chapter leadership, I have witnessed her empathy, commitment, and integrity firsthand. She has broken a ceiling that stood for over two decades and widened the pathway for generations of young women.”

The Chairman of the Fediben OGA Board of Trustees, Mrs. Eyono Fatayi-Williams, also praised Olaniyan’s expertise and leadership qualities, noting that her elevation reflects Midwestern Oil and Gas’ commitment to recognising excellence.

“We are delighted at her appointment. With her exceptional technical competence, proven leadership, and strong track record of driving innovation, she is poised to lead the company to new heights,” she said. “Her emergence represents another important step in advancing gender equality in Nigeria’s energy industry.”

Similarly, the President of the Edo State Chapter of the association, Rev. Mrs. Olayinka Aken’Ova, described the achievement as a testament to Olaniyan’s hard work, dedication, and outstanding leadership capacity.

Fediben OGA commended Midwestern Oil and Gas for taking a decisive step toward gender inclusion at the highest level of corporate leadership.

The association expressed confidence that Olaniyan will bring transformative ideas to her new role and continue to make the Fediben community proud.
