Ibeju-Lekki Launches N100,000 Conditional Cash Transfer and 2026 Budget Stakeholders’ Meeting to Deepen Grassroots Development

In a bold step toward deepening grassroots development and promoting inclusive governance, the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government on Monday, November 10, 2025, held its 2026 Budget Stakeholders’ Meeting and simultaneously flagged off the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Programme aimed at empowering 4,000 residents with ₦100,000 each over a 20-month period.
The event, which took place at the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat, Igando-Oloja, was presided over by the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Addressing stakeholders, Hon. Olowa emphasized the importance of community participation in governance and budget formulation. According to him, the 2026 budget will be a “people’s budget” that reflects the aspirations of every ward, household, and business within Ibeju-Lekki.
“It is important to involve stakeholders in planning the 2026 budget so that we can address the areas mentioned and discussed today. Our goal is not just to announce new projects but to ensure that every existing and new intervention delivers value to the people,” he said.
New Model Primary Schools and Infrastructure Drive
Hon. Olowa also revealed plans to introduce new model primary schools in Awoyaya, other key locations within the local government, as part of efforts to enhance the standard of basic education.
On infrastructure, he disclosed that the local government had begun investing in construction equipment, including graders, rollers, and excavators, to ensure continuous improvement of roads and inner streets.
“We are determined to make visible progress across all communities. Toro Road will be completed by January, and more projects will follow immediately after,” he assured.
Economic Empowerment and Private Sector Partnership
Highlighting Ibeju-Lekki’s economic potential as a rapidly growing investment corridor, Hon. Olowa said the administration is focused on promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creation through empowerment programmes and cooperative development.
He called for stronger collaboration with the private sector, financial institutions, and NGOs, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved through partnerships.
“Ibeju-Lekki is now one of the most active economic corridors in Lagos State. We must connect our people with the businesses and opportunities around us. But we cannot do it alone—we need private sector support and development partnerships to achieve our vision,” he said.
Transparency, Fiscal Discipline, and Digital Governance
The council boss reiterated his administration’s commitment to fiscal discipline, transparency, and digital governance, adding that data-driven planning and open reporting will remain at the heart of policy implementation.
“We are strengthening our monitoring and evaluation framework to ensure that projects are completed on schedule and that public resources are managed responsibly,” he added.
Community Commendation
Traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents who attended the event lauded the conditional cash transfer initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that would reduce poverty and bring relief to vulnerable households.
One of the royal fathers in attendance commended Hon. Olowa’s leadership, noting that his administration had introduced impactful and sustainable programmes across Ibeju-Lekki.
“What the chairman is doing is remarkable. This initiative shows his compassion and commitment to the people. We give him full credit for his leadership,” he remarked.
According to the organizers, 4,000 beneficiaries were carefully selected across all wards, with bank accounts opened for them to ensure transparent disbursement, which began immediately after the launch.
Hon. Olowa reaffirmed that the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer aligns with the local government’s SHIELD Agenda — a framework designed to build a Safer, Healthier, Inclusive, Educated, and Developed Ibeju-Lekki.
He assured residents that the administration remains focused on inclusive growth, accountability, and measurable results, emphasizing that the strength of governance lies in the partnership between leadership and the people.
