L–R: Ayomide Awe, Chief Technical Officer, Termii; Oche Omale, Divisional Head, Engineering, Payment Processing & Switching (Interswitch Purepay); Opeyemi Folorunsho, Vice President, Engineering Research and Development, Moniepoint; and Abdul-Hafiz Ibrahim, Divisional Head, Engineering, Commercial Inclusion (Interswitch Inclusio), at the recent Coded Meetup organised by the Interswitch Developer Community, held at the Interswitch Innovation Hub, Lagos.

The Interswitch Innovation Hub in Lagos recently played host to some of Africa’s brightest tech minds during the Coded Meetup, a vibrant gathering of developers, engineers, product builders, and tech enthusiasts organised by the Interswitch Developer Community.

Far from the usual hackathon or technical boot camp, the event — themed “Code, Connect, and Chill” — offered a relaxed yet purposeful environment where participants could engage in meaningful discussions, share experiences, and network beyond their screens.

Designed to strengthen collaboration within Africa’s growing technology ecosystem, the meetup focused on human connection as much as it did on innovation. Attendees explored the challenges and opportunities shaping the continent’s digital transformation, with special emphasis on mentorship, community learning, and inclusive growth.

The evening featured two insightful panel sessions led by seasoned industry experts, including senior executives from Interswitch, Moniepoint, and Termii. Discussions touched on topics such as distributed systems, artificial intelligence, scalable solution design, and the ethical use of emerging technologies. A key takeaway echoed throughout the event: Africa’s next big tech breakthrough will be driven by collaboration, not competition.

Beyond the formal sessions, the atmosphere was social and inspiring. Developers exchanged stories about their toughest coding challenges, celebrated product wins, and reflected on lessons learned from their journeys in tech.

Through initiatives like the Coded Meetup, Interswitch continues to champion mentorship, innovation, and community building among African developers. The Interswitch Developer Community remains committed to promoting knowledge-sharing, inclusion, and sustainable growth within the continent’s fintech and technology space — shaping Africa’s digital future one connection at a time.
