Lagos Police Command Refutes Claims of Defying Court Order in Nestoil Case

The Lagos State Police Command has firmly denied allegations that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olorundare Moshood Jimoh, disobeyed a court order relating to the Nestoil premises, describing the claims as misleading and deliberately crafted to deceive the public.

In a press statement e-signed by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the police clarified that the Command complied immediately with the court order upon verification.

According to the statement, the Court Order regarding the Nestoil premises was received at about 17:50 hours on Thursday, 20th November 2025. It was promptly forwarded to the Police Legal Department to confirm its authenticity. The confirmation was received on Friday, 21st November, and all police personnel stationed at the premises were withdrawn without delay on the same day.

The Command expressed surprise that certain media outlets and a television interview suggested that the Lagos Commissioner of Police defied the court order. It condemned the narrative as “untrue, incorrect, misleading, and a wicked attempt to drag the Police into disputes between Nestoil and other parties.”

The statement further stressed that the Commissioner of Police has not, at any time on 20th or 21st November 2025, visited the Nestoil premises. It reiterated that the Lagos CP respects judicial authorities and has never acted in a manner that undermines legal processes.

Clarifying the Police’s statutory role, the Command noted that its duty during enforcement is limited to providing protection to the Court Sheriff and maintaining peace, law, and order. It emphasized that the Police lack the authority to seal or unseal premises, including those of Nestoil.

“The Lagos State Police Command therefore enjoins all parties involved in the case to focus on their legal proceedings and refrain from dragging the Police into unnecessary controversies,” the statement read.

The Command urged members of the public to disregard the claims, describing them as deliberate distortions of fact intended to misinform.

It concluded by reaffirming its commitment to the rule of law, adherence to judicial directives, and ensuring that all police actions conform to legal procedures.
