NDLEA Uncovers Colos Laboratory in Lagos, Arrests Music Artist, Seizes Tons of Drugs in Nationwide Raids
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a clandestine laboratory producing “Colos,” a synthetic strain of cannabis, in a residential building located at Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos State.
A statement by the Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, revealed that operatives discovered the illegal lab after months of surveillance and intelligence gathering. The operation led to the arrest of 30-year-old Stephen Kelechi Imoh, who allegedly operated the facility.
Recovered from the laboratory were 16.2 kilograms of freshly produced Colos, 1.7 kilograms of ADB-CHMNACA Cannabinol, 4.5 kilograms of Potassium Carbonate, and 91 litres of Dibromobutane — chemicals used in the illicit production process.
The agency explained that the discovery followed earlier seizures of locally produced Colos in March and May 2025, confirming suspicions that the psychoactive substance, once imported, was now being manufactured in Nigeria.
In a separate operation, NDLEA officers arrested 28-year-old drug dealer, Afeez Salisu (alias Malu), in Mushin, Lagos, where 16 compressed blocks of Ghana Loud and bottles of Colorado weighing 16.4kg were seized.
Also in Lagos, a 20-year-old music artist, Godspower George Osahenrumwen (aka Steady Boy), was apprehended after attempting to take delivery of 77.2 kilograms of Loud concealed in three imported bathtubs from New York. The agency disclosed that the consignment arrived through DHL at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja. The suspect was arrested in Lekki while trying to collect the package on behalf of his manager, identified as Zion Osazee Omigie (aka Zee Money), who is currently at large.
Beyond Lagos, NDLEA operatives recorded several other significant seizures across multiple states.
- In Kaduna, 84,710 capsules of tramadol and 32,946 bottles of Akuskura, a new psychoactive substance, were intercepted.
- In Ogun, three suspects were arrested in Abeokuta with 1,779 kilograms of skunk.
- In Edo State, 1,455 kilograms of skunk were seized from two Toyota Sienna buses.
- In Ondo, over 2.8 tonnes of skunk were recovered from locations in Ogbese, while another 737 kilograms were seized in Akure.
- In Kwara, 532,600 pills of tramadol and Exol-5 were intercepted from a truck in Ilorin.
- In Bauchi, 596 kilograms of skunk were seized, and a suspect identified as Jamilu Mustapha was arrested.
- In Taraba, 30,370 pills of tramadol and 177 grams of methamphetamine were recovered from two suspects conveying the drugs from Onitsha to Yola.
Additionally, NDLEA operatives arrested Ige Oluwale (50) in Badagry, Lagos, with 76.5 litres of skuchies, a dangerous cocktail of cannabis, opioids, and black currant drink.
Meanwhile, the agency’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaign continued nationwide, targeting schools, religious centres, and communities across Oyo, Lagos, Sokoto, Jigawa, and Kano states, among others.
Commending officers across the country, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), praised their professionalism and dedication, assuring that the agency will sustain its offensive against drug cartels.
“We will continue to target and dismantle every drug syndicate in any part of Nigeria and ensure that they forfeit all traceable assets to the Federal Government,” Marwa stated.
