CGC Adewale Adeniyi Honoured at NEAPS 2025 for Excellence in Revenue Generation

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has been awarded the Outstanding Revenue Collection Award at the 2025 Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS). The event was held on Sunday, 7 December 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, said Adeniyi emerged among 44 exceptional recipients after a rigorous evaluation of institutional performance nationwide.

Akume praised the CGC for his discipline, transparency and professionalism in revenue administration, describing his leadership as the kind of public service excellence Nigeria needs at this crucial time. He noted that under Adeniyi’s stewardship, the Customs Service has consistently surpassed revenue targets, strengthened border management and boosted public trust in its operations—making his recognition both “deserving and inspiring.”

The SGF added that the NEAPS initiative seeks to entrench a culture of recognition within the public sector, reminding honourees that public office remains a trust held on behalf of Nigerians.

Speaking to journalists after receiving the award, CGC Adeniyi expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu, the SGF and the award organisers. He dedicated the honour to officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service, describing it as a morale booster as the Service intensifies efforts to enhance revenue mobilisation, tighten border security and promote seamless trade facilitation.

“This recognition challenges us to work even harder. It reinforces our commitment to making this country proud through credible revenue administration and service that reflects integrity and excellence,” he said.

The ceremony drew high-profile attendees, including the Governors of Adamawa, Bauchi, Kano and Zamfara States, the Director-General of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and other senior public sector leaders.

The second edition of NEAPS was organised by The Best Strategic (TBS) Media in partnership with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) to celebrate exemplary individuals and institutions shaping public service delivery in Nigeria.
