Dangote Refinery Opens Nationwide Hotline to Report Overpricing of Petrol at MRS Stations

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has launched a dedicated nationwide hotline to enable Nigerians to report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre.

The refinery said the move is aimed at promoting transparency, protecting consumers and ensuring compliance with its recently introduced nationwide PMS price regime. The hotline, 0800 123 5264, is now active across the country and applies to all MRS filling stations, which number over 2,000 nationwide.

The development follows Dangote Refinery’s commencement of nationwide PMS sales at ₦739 per litre, a move described as a strategic market intervention to stabilise fuel prices and ease the cost burden on Nigerians, particularly during the festive season.

In a statement, the refinery urged consumers to report any station found selling above the approved price, stressing that locally refined fuel is available at a uniform and affordable rate.

“We encourage Nigerians not to patronise stations selling PMS above ₦739 per litre. Any MRS station violating this price should be reported through our hotline. This will help ensure that the benefits of the price reduction reach all consumers,” the refinery stated.

Dangote Refinery reaffirmed its commitment to steady and adequate supply, noting that it has a guaranteed daily production capacity of 50 million litres. It warned against attempts to create artificial scarcity or manipulate fuel distribution in response to the price reduction.

The refinery also called on regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against any unpatriotic practices that undermine fair pricing and market stability.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or frustrate recent price reductions is unacceptable. Regulatory agencies must act decisively against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” the statement added.

By refining petroleum products locally at scale, the refinery said it is helping to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on fuel imports, conserve foreign exchange, stabilise the naira and strengthen national energy security.

Consumers were advised to remain vigilant and resist purchasing fuel at inflated prices when cheaper, locally refined alternatives are readily available.
