Ecobank Assures Customers of Uninterrupted Digital Banking Services During Festive Season, Warns Against Fraud

Ecobank Nigeria has assured its customers of seamless and uninterrupted access to banking services throughout the Christmas and year-end holiday period, leveraging its robust and secure digital platforms. The bank also urged customers to remain vigilant against fraud and scams, which tend to increase during the festive season.

Speaking on the assurance, the Head of Products & Analytics, Consumer and Commercial Banking at Ecobank Nigeria, Victor Yalokwu, stated that all the bank’s digital channels will remain fully operational during the yuletide. These include the Ecobank Mobile App, Ecobank Business App, USSD *326#, Ecobank Online, OmniPlus, Omnilite, EcobankPay, RapidTransfer, Ecobank cards, ATMs, PoS terminals, as well as over 35,000 Ecobank Xpress Point agent banking locations across the country.

Yalokwu explained that customers will continue to enjoy a wide range of banking services during the period, such as local and international funds transfers, bill payments, airtime top-ups, merchant payments, balance enquiries, account statements, and cardless cash withdrawals via ATMs.

He encouraged customers to take advantage of the bank’s digital solutions for safe, fast, and efficient banking, especially during the festive period when convenience is crucial. He noted that while physical branch operations may operate on adjusted hours in line with public holidays, Ecobank’s digital platforms are designed to deliver uninterrupted service with enhanced security.

“Ecobank remains committed to providing innovative financial solutions and exceptional customer service. We wish all our customers a joyful festive season and a prosperous New Year,” Yalokwu said.

He also cautioned customers to be alert to fraudulent activities during the season, noting that scammers often take advantage of increased online shopping, travel, and end-of-year distractions. According to him, customers should shop only on trusted websites, avoid sharing PINs, passwords, or one-time passwords (OTPs), refrain from banking on public Wi-Fi networks, be wary of urgent or emotionally charged messages, and regularly monitor their account activity.

Ecobank Nigeria is a subsidiary of the Ecobank Group, Africa’s leading pan-African banking institution with operations in 33 African countries and international offices in London, Paris, Beijing, and Dubai. With over 220 branches, more than 36,000 agency banking locations, and strong digital platforms, the bank provides accessible, affordable, and instant banking services, while playing a strategic role in supporting pan-African trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
