 Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Unveils ₦4.99bn ‘Budget of Inclusive Prosperity’ for 2026

The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area has presented a ₦4.99 billion budget for the 2026 fiscal year, outlining plans to drive infrastructure renewal, youth development, healthcare improvement, and inclusive economic growth across all communities within the council.

Executive Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, laid the 2026 Appropriation Bill before the Legislative Council on Monday at the Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun Legislative & Administrative Building, describing the proposal as a financial plan rooted in community priorities and aligned with his administration’s GLORY Agenda.

The proposed budget of ₦4,998,908,360.01 allocates ₦2.76 billion (55.2%) to recurrent expenditure and ₦2.24 billion (44.8%) to capital projects. Key investment areas include road construction and rehabilitation, expansion of drainage systems, improved primary healthcare, youth and digital skills development, market infrastructure upgrade, environmental management, community security, and rehabilitation of public facilities.

Aroyewun said the budget was the product of wide stakeholder consultations, such as the 2026 Budget Forum and a technical retreat involving executive officials, legislators, and financial experts. He stressed that the fiscal plan aims to create shared prosperity and ensure every project delivers measurable value to residents.

Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Basirat Banjoko, who opened the session, pledged that lawmakers would scrutinise the budget thoroughly to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with public needs. She commended the administration for adopting an inclusive budgeting culture.

Despite being only four months in office, Aroyewun highlighted recorded gains in healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and community development. These include the upgrade of Baiyeku and Ibeshe Primary Health Centres, renovation of classrooms at Methodist Primary School, the “Mentorship with HOA” youth initiative, and the maiden Igbogbo Youth Summit.

He noted that ongoing projects such as the reconstruction of Oliwo Amoju Road and the establishment of Zumratul Islamiyyah Primary School would receive significant acceleration under the 2026 budget.

“Every project will be tracked, every kobo will be accounted for, and every action will serve the people,” Aroyewun assured, reiterating his administration’s commitment to transparency and public-centered governance.

The budget presentation was witnessed by the Adeboruwa-in-Council, political leaders, the Community Development Committee (CDC), religious organisations, youth groups, traditional institutions, market associations, and senior government officials, indicating broad community support for the administration’s development agenda.
