Lekki–Epe Expressway Crash Claims One Life, FRSC Confirms

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, has confirmed that one person died while another sustained injuries in a road traffic crash that occurred in the early hours of Monday at Eleko Junction along the Lekki–Epe Expressway.

In a statement issued by the Sector Public Education Officer, SRC Oluwadamilola Jayeola, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the crash was attributed to speed violation and loss of control.

The incident involved two vehicles: a commercial Bajaj motorcycle with registration number KSF 813 QR and a private Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 514 HX.

“Sadly, one person lost his life in the crash, while another was injured,” the statement said.

Jayeola explained that FRSC operatives promptly collaborated with the Nigeria Police Force to manage the situation. The deceased was evacuated by the police to a morgue, while the vehicles involved were removed from the road to restore traffic flow and prevent secondary crashes.

Reacting to the incident, the Sector Commander, FRSC Lagos Sector Command, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, commiserated with the family of the deceased and urged all road users to comply strictly with traffic regulations.

He cautioned motorists and motorcyclists against speeding and stressed the need for patience and full vehicle control at all times.

The Lagos Sector Command also reassured the public of its continued commitment to road safety, noting that special end-of-year patrols, public sensitisation campaigns, and enforcement activities have been intensified across the state to reduce crashes and save lives.
