Yuletide Relief: Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Aligns with Renewed Hope Agenda, Supports 2,000 Residents

In a demonstration of grassroots governance and social responsibility, the Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to citizen welfare with the rollout of a special Yuletide edition of its Ounje HOA and Cash Transfer Palliative Programme.

The intervention, which benefited over 2,000 residents across the council area, formed part of efforts by the LCDA administration to cushion the effects of prevailing economic pressures on households during the festive season. Beneficiaries received essential food supplies, including rice, beans and garri, as well as direct cash support.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, said the initiative reflects a people-focused governance approach that resonates with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He stressed that the council remains deliberate in designing policies and programmes that directly impact the lives of residents, especially the vulnerable.

According to the chairman, the yuletide palliative programme is not a one-off intervention but part of a broader social support framework that the council plans to institutionalise annually. He also used the occasion to urge residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to maintain peace within the community.

The programme attracted commendations from political leaders, traditional authorities and party stakeholders, who described the intervention as timely and responsive. Prominent voices at the event praised the council leadership for prioritising welfare at a time when many families are grappling with rising living costs.

Among dignitaries present were members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), including Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun and Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe; traditional chiefs from Adeboruwa-in-Council; party leaders; legislative council members; market leaders; senior council officials; and representatives of religious and community groups.

Several beneficiaries who spoke at the venue expressed appreciation to the council administration, noting that the support provided relief and restored hope for many households during the festive period.

The successful execution of the programme further highlights the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA’s emphasis on inclusive governance, community engagement and sustained social welfare delivery.
