Merry Season in Lagos East as 12,000 Households Receive Senator Abiru’s Food Packs

 

No fewer than 12,000 households across the Lagos East Senatorial District have benefited from food packs distributed by Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, as part of his annual festive welfare outreach.

The distribution, which covered Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Kosofe and Somolu, brings the total number of households that have benefited from the initiative since its inception to about 84,000.

The food packs, containing essential staples such as rice and garri, were shared across all 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the district. The intervention provided relief to thousands of residents, particularly the most vulnerable groups, including the elderly, widows, persons living with disabilities, women and unemployed youths.

Each pack was branded with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, alongside Senator Abiru’s #DoingGood initiative, reflecting the Senator’s alignment with the Federal Government’s policy focus on food security, social protection and inclusive welfare.

To ensure transparency and fairness, beneficiaries were selected through a community-driven process. Residents across Lagos East submitted nominations via an online platform, recommending vulnerable individuals and families within their communities. The nominations were randomly shortlisted, with beneficiaries emerging from all the LGAs and LCDAs in the senatorial district.

Many beneficiaries described the support as timely and impactful, noting that the gesture went beyond food assistance to reaffirm responsive leadership and compassionate representation.

In addition to the food packs, cows were also distributed to selected traditional rulers and party leaders to support festive celebrations across the district.
