KLT Area Command Launches Review of Bonded Terminals to Boost Operational Efficiency

The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command, Deputy Comptroller BL Adigun, has conducted a comprehensive working visit to all Bonded Terminals within the command, aiming to evaluate operations and enhance overall efficiency. The visit took place on Monday, December 15, 2025, shortly after his assumption of duty.

Deputy Comptroller Adigun used the visit to assess terminal operations, monitor compliance with Customs laws and procedures, identify areas for improvement, and ensure effective supervision of officers on duty. He also reviewed safety, security, and readiness measures across the command’s facilities.

The operating Bonded Terminals visited included Bestaf Terminal, Joliz Terminal, Phase 2 Terminal, ESSLIBRA Terminal, and Port Express Terminal. During inspections, Adigun examined facilities, observed cargo handling processes, and stressed the importance of discipline, integrity, and strict adherence to Customs regulations.

He also visited licensed terminals yet to commence full operations, including Beachland Consortium Limited, Harvard Terminal, and Tenzik Terminal. At these sites, he confirmed compliance with documentary and facility requirements and assured full support to help the terminals explore business opportunities along the maritime corridor.

The Acting Area Controller commended officers for their dedication and hard work, urging them to strengthen teamwork and collaborate with sister agencies and stakeholders to facilitate legitimate trade.

Adigun described the visit as a critical step in gaining a thorough understanding of KLT’s operations and bolstering supervisory control over all Bonded Terminals under the command, emphasizing operational excellence, strict compliance, accountability, and the promotion of lawful trade practices.
