Ogun Police Announce Shooting Range Exercise, Urge Public to Remain Calm

The Ogun State Police Command has announced plans to conduct a shooting range exercise for its officers on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance operational readiness and improve marksmanship skills.

The exercise will take place at the 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala, Abeokuta.

In a press statement e-signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the Command said the training forms part of its routine capacity-building programme aimed at strengthening effective law enforcement across the state.

The statement advised residents, commuters, and members of the public within and around the exercise area to remain calm and avoid the marked vicinity during the period of the training. It assured that adequate safety measures have been put in place, stressing that sounds of gunfire expected during the exercise should not cause panic.

“The Ogun State Police Command assures members of the public that the exercise will be conducted under strict safety protocols,” the statement noted, while seeking the understanding and cooperation of residents to ensure the smooth and incident-free conduct of the training.
