Olowa Inspects Rehabilitated 33kV Power Line in Ibeju-Lekki, Assures Communities of Electricity Restoration in Three Weeks
The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, on Tuesday inspected the rehabilitated 33kV power line running from Ibeju-Agbe Bridge to the Okegun–Madagbayun axis, assuring residents that electricity supply would be restored within three weeks.
The inspection covered several benefiting communities, including Okegun-Odofin, Okegun-Eleku, Okegun-School and Madagbayun, where the chairman assessed the condition and functionality of electricity transformers ahead of reconnection. He was accompanied by senior officials of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) as well as traditional leaders from the affected areas.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Olowa expressed satisfaction with the level of work completed on the power infrastructure, describing it as a significant step towards improving the quality of life and economic activities in the communities. He commended EKEDC for its collaboration with the local government and urged residents to take collective responsibility for protecting power facilities from vandalism.
The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, stressing the importance of sustained partnerships between government, utility providers and host communities to guarantee reliable and uninterrupted power supply.
In continuation of the inspection tour, Hon. Olowa also visited the Lakowe–Losoro axis to monitor the ongoing road construction project. Accompanied by officials of the Works Department, project supervisors and community representatives, he assessed the pace of work and the quality of materials being used.
He assured residents that the road project, upon completion, would significantly enhance connectivity, ease transportation challenges and stimulate economic growth within the corridor. While appealing to road users for patience during the construction period, the chairman pledged that the project would be completed promptly in line with his administration’s infrastructure transformation agenda.
