Over 250 entrepreneurs, business owners, and corporate executives converged in Ikeja, Lagos last week for the 2025 edition of Time-Out-With-Kate, an annual entrepreneurship and business-growth conference convened by Dr. (Mrs.) Catherine Opeyemi Adesomoju. The event, now in its third year, focused on the theme “Building Transgenerational Businesses.”

Dr. Adesomoju—widely known as Sister Kate—is an evangelist, author, entrepreneur, and MD/CEO of Spectrum Holdings, the parent company of Spectrum Innovation Technologies Ltd. and Spectrum Phones Ltd. Spectrum Holdings currently boasts a workforce of more than 200 employees and is a leading distributor of phones, accessories, and energy products in Nigeria and other parts of Africa.

This year’s edition featured a rich lineup of speakers, including leadership strategist Niyi Adesanya and Goke and Abimbola Balogun, co-CEOs of SoFresh. The conference was offered at no cost to participants through the support of His Presence Foundation, a humanitarian and empowerment-focused non-profit where Dr. Adesomoju serves as a key board member.

Beyond sponsoring the summit, His Presence Foundation provides educational scholarships, business grants for struggling startups and women-led SMEs, and humanitarian outreaches that distribute relief materials, Bibles, and interdenominational support.

In her keynote address titled “From Rich to Wealthy: Building Transgenerational Wealth,” Dr. Adesomoju outlined the difference between being merely rich and being truly wealthy. Using the acronym R.I.C.H., she described “rich” individuals as revenue-focused, image-driven, cash-heavy yet capital-poor, and often driven by hustle rather than structure.

She contrasted this with her framework for W.E.A.L.T.H.Y. individuals—Wise, Enthusiastic visionaries, Action-driven learners who leverage technology, prioritize their health, and yield to God for direction in business and life.

Referencing Genesis 1:1, she emphasized that entrepreneurs are creators mandated to start with value, systemize with structure, scale sustainably, and invest in succession planning to ensure continuity across generations.

Leadership expert Niyi Adesanya echoed these principles, stressing that wealth that endures is built not only on assets but on transferable mindsets, systems, and frameworks that outlive the founder.

Other notable speakers included Prof. Folu Olatona, Dr. Abiola Salami, and Mrs. Yomi Adewale, who addressed various aspects of leadership, personal development, and business growth.

Dr. Adesomoju, a graduate of Business Administration from the University of Ilorin, is a Fellow of the Institute of Business Administration and Knowledge Management (FIBAKM). She also holds an honorary doctorate in Corporate Leadership and Entrepreneurship Management. She is married to Mr. Akindeji Adesomoju, her lifelong friend and Chairman of Spectrum Holdings.
