Soludo Reaffirms Commitment to Aviation Development, Commissions Protocol Lounge at Chinụa Achebe International Airport
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has renewed his administration’s commitment to overhauling Anambra State’s aviation infrastructure with the commissioning of a new Protocol Lounge at the Chinụa Achebe International Airport, Umueri.
Speaking at the event, the Governor described the project as part of a phased strategy to upgrade airport facilities, enhance passenger experience, and position the state as a growing hub for regional and international air travel.
According to his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo noted that aviation development remains a key pillar of his administration’s transformation agenda, citing its potential to create jobs, build technical capacity, and increase air connectivity.
“By upgrading our airport infrastructure and delivering a world-class Protocol Lounge, we are not only improving passenger experience but also signalling to investors that Anambra is open for business. This is about jobs, growth, and sustainable development for our people,” the Governor said.
He further stressed the need for continuous collaboration with federal aviation authorities and international partners to ensure full compliance with global standards.
The newly unveiled Protocol Lounge is designed to offer dignitaries, government officials, and high-profile travellers a secure and comfortable experience. The facility includes dedicated check-in points, executive seating, private waiting rooms, and heightened security features.
Commissioner for Transportation, Barr. Patricia Igwebuike, and other stakeholders at the ceremony said the upgrade would stimulate commerce, tourism, and investments across Umueri and Anambra State at large.
The Chinụa Achebe International Airport has remained central to the state’s aviation aspirations, and the addition of the Protocol Lounge marks another milestone in ongoing efforts to align its operations with modern international standards.
