Tincan Island Customs Rakes in ₦1.56trn, Exceeds 2025 Revenue Benchmark

The Tincan Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a major revenue breakthrough, generating ₦1.56 trillion as of December 23, 2025, far above its annual target.

The Comptroller of the command, Mr. Frank Onyeka, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing, describing the performance as a clear indication of improved operational efficiency and stakeholder collaboration.

According to Onyeka, the revenue figure surpassed the command’s 2025 benchmark of slightly over ₦1 trillion, a success he attributed largely to the deployment of the B’Odogwu Trade Modernisation and Compliance Management System, alongside sustained cooperation from port stakeholders.

He explained that the command’s strict adherence to its core mandates—revenue generation, national security, and trade facilitation—played a critical role in achieving the milestone.

The Comptroller noted that bulk cargo imports, general merchandise, and the importation of used vehicles accounted for a substantial portion of the revenue collected within the period under review.

Onyeka further revealed that the command has streamlined multiple and unnecessary alerts in its clearance processes, a move aimed at boosting efficiency, reducing delays, and enhancing ease of doing business at the port.

He said the latest achievement reflects the command’s commitment to strengthening internal processes while supporting legitimate trade.

With the record-breaking revenue performance, the Tincan Island Command has once again demonstrated its strategic importance to the nation’s economy and its capacity to contribute meaningfully to national growth through effective revenue mobilisation and trade facilitation.
