Clean Energy Day: JMG Saves ₦40m Annually as Solar Power Cuts Diesel Use at Lagos HQ

As the world marks Clean Energy Day on January 26, JMG Limited, a leading provider of hybrid and integrated electromechanical solutions, has reinforced its commitment to Nigeria’s clean energy transition with a major solar milestone that is delivering significant cost and environmental benefits.

The company announced that the deployment of a 129-kilowatt hybrid solar power system at its Lagos headquarters has enabled JMG to save up to ₦40 million annually in diesel costs, while drastically reducing its carbon footprint.

According to JMG, the solar installation now supplies up to 90 per cent of the building’s energy needs, generating approximately 15.48 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean energy monthly. The system has also eliminated over 71 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually and reduced diesel consumption by more than 34,800 litres per year.

The project, designed and executed by JMG Solar, integrates LONGi 575W solar panels, Deye high-efficiency hybrid inverters, and 122.9kWh lithium-ion battery storage, providing a reliable, scalable, and future-ready energy solution.

JMG operates across several specialised divisions, including power generation, solar energy, cooling systems, vertical transportation, electrical infrastructure, and industrial air compressor solutions. Through these units, the company supports homes, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities with energy-efficient and environmentally responsible systems.

Speaking on the development, Rabi Jammal, Group General Manager of JMG Limited, said the project reflects the company’s practical approach to sustainability.

“JMG is not just advocating clean energy; we are running on it. Our headquarters demonstrates that smart solar solutions can deliver immediate financial and environmental benefits for businesses in Nigeria,” Jammal said.

He added that the company remains committed to supporting Nigeria’s clean energy goals while enabling businesses to reduce operating costs and reliance on fossil fuels.

JMG Solar provides commercial and industrial solar power solutions, including hybrid systems, battery energy storage, and grid-tied and off-grid installations. The company also offers flexible solar leasing and financing options to help organisations transition to clean power with minimal upfront investment.

Recently, key stakeholders and business partners toured the solar installation at JMG’s headquarters, witnessing firsthand how renewable energy adoption is translating into measurable cost savings, improved efficiency, and reduced diesel dependence.

Beyond its headquarters, JMG continues to drive sustainability across multiple sectors, delivering energy-efficient lift systems, renewable power solutions for healthcare facilities, smart air compressor systems for factories, and advanced cooling technologies for data centres.

Reflecting on the significance of Clean Energy Day, Jammal said JMG remains focused on balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility.

“As we mark Clean Energy Day, we are proud of the progress we have made in advancing sustainability across Nigeria. Our goal is to drive development through smarter, cleaner energy solutions that support a more resilient future,” he said.

The company said its recent achievements reaffirm its long-term commitment to innovation, responsible growth, and clean energy solutions that contribute to a greener Nigeria.
