IBLCDA Commences Inner Road Grading at Olumo CDA

The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA) has commenced inner road grading works at Olumo Community Development Association (CDA), in a move aimed at improving internal accessibility and fulfilling a key campaign promise of the Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun–led administration.

The project forms part of the council’s GLORY Agenda, under the “Roads and Other Physical Infrastructure” pillar, which focuses on delivering practical, community-based infrastructure interventions to ease movement, enhance safety, and boost grassroots economic activities.

The ongoing grading exercise is targeted at addressing long-standing challenges associated with poor inner road conditions, particularly within residential communities. It is expected to improve vehicular movement, reduce damage to vehicles, and enhance access to homes, markets, schools, and other essential facilities.

Speaking on the initiative, the Chairman of IBLCDA, Mr. Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, said the project reflects his administration’s commitment to translating campaign promises into tangible development outcomes. He stressed that meaningful and sustainable development must begin at the community level.

According to him, the intervention underscores the administration’s resolve to ensure that residents experience the impact of governance in their daily lives, especially in areas that directly affect mobility and economic activities.

The Chairman also noted that the initiative aligns with the THEMES+ Agenda of the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, particularly in the areas of transportation efficiency, inclusive growth, and community development.

The IBLCDA administration assured residents that the inner road grading programme would be sustained and implemented in phases across other communities within the council area. It added that the exercise would be carried out in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, with transparency and community engagement maintained throughout the process.

Residents of Olumo CDA and neighbouring communities have been urged to cooperate with officials and contractors handling the project as work progresses, as the council continues its efforts to build a more accessible, connected, and prosperous Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
