Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Announces Measles–Rubella Vaccination Exercise

The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has announced the commencement of a Measles–Rubella Vaccination Exercise aimed at protecting children from preventable diseases and improving community health outcomes.

The immunisation programme, which targets children between the ages of nine months and 14 years, also includes routine immunisation for children aged 0–23 months, as well as Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for nine-year-old girls.

In a statement issued by the council, parents and guardians were urged to take full advantage of the exercise to ensure their children are adequately protected, stressing that immunisation remains one of the most effective measures for preventing childhood diseases.

The vaccination exercise is scheduled to hold at the Igbogbo Primary Health Centre, Igbogbo, from January 27 to February 5, 2026.

Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Chairman of the LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, reaffirmed the council’s commitment to prioritising child health and ensuring that no child is left behind. He described the programme as a collective responsibility and called on residents to support efforts aimed at building a healthier future for the community.

The council encouraged residents to participate actively in the exercise, noting that prevention remains better than cure in safeguarding public health.
