Kebbi Customs, Immigration Commit to Strengthened Collaboration for Officers’ Safety

Kebbi, 29 January 2026 – The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Kebbi Area Command, Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, fdc, has reaffirmed his commitment to inter-agency cooperation with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to safeguard the lives of officers and host communities.

The assurance came during a courtesy visit by the newly posted Comptroller of NIS, Kebbi State Command, Comptroller Mohammed Lawal Hayatuddeen, to the Customs Command headquarters on Thursday. The visit aimed to enhance coordination and strengthen collaboration between the two security agencies.

Comptroller Hayatuddeen expressed appreciation for the warm reception extended to him, noting that the CAC was the first to welcome him at the airport and facilitated seamless engagement with other security agencies in the state. He described Comptroller Ibrahim as “humble, approachable, and easy-going,” adding that these qualities have significantly fostered mutual understanding and cooperation among security agencies in Kebbi.

He further urged senior officers to take proactive responsibility for the welfare of junior officers, encouraging mentorship and support to maintain healthy morale and improve service efficiency. He extended a hand of friendship to the Nigeria Customs Service and pledged his commitment to strengthened collaboration, intelligence sharing, and sustained inter-agency cooperation for effective border management.

In response, Comptroller Ibrahim highlighted that the visit aligns with the policy directives of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, which emphasize “Collaboration, Consolidation, and Innovation.”

Recalling the loss of lives and assets along the Maje axis in Bagudo Local Government Area, he commended the improved cooperation and strategic deployments that have enabled continued operations in the region. He stressed the importance of sustained intelligence sharing, enhanced inter-agency coordination, and proactive engagement to strengthen border security and protect national interests.
