Nigeria Customs Service, Port Harcourt II Command Surpasses 2025 Revenue Target, Collects N731.2bn

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port Harcourt II Area Command, has exceeded its 2025 revenue target, recording a total collection of N731.2 billion, representing 104.46 per cent of its N700.01 billion target for the year.

The achievement follows the Command’s strong performance in 2024 and underscores its growing contribution to national revenue and economic development.

The Area Controller, Comptroller Aliyu M. Alkali, attributed the feat to effective leadership, strict adherence to standard operating procedures, and the successful implementation of the Comptroller-General of Customs’ policy thrust, including the deployment of the indigenously developed Unified Customs Management System (B’ODOGWU), which has enhanced cargo clearance efficiency.

Comptroller Alkali said sustained discipline among officers, continuous stakeholder engagement, and compliance enforcement were key drivers of the Command’s success.

While acknowledging the collective effort behind the milestone, the Area Controller expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and the management of the Service for providing an enabling operational environment. He also commended critical stakeholders for their cooperation and synergy.

The Command also recorded significant anti-smuggling successes during the period, intercepting 75 containers with a cumulative Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N47.6 billion. According to Comptroller Alkali, 30 of the seized containers were found to contain expired, illicit, and unregistered pharmaceutical products, while others contravened various provisions of the Customs and Excise laws.

He noted that the seizures were aimed at protecting public health, safeguarding the economy, and serving as a deterrent to smugglers and other trade violators.

Comptroller Alkali further praised officers of the Command for their dedication, professionalism, and patriotic commitment, stressing that their uncompromising stance was central to the Command’s operational successes.

He urged importers and Customs-licensed agents to make honest declarations, reaffirming the Command’s resolve to facilitate legitimate trade while enforcing customs regulations with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
