POWA Zone 2 Empowers Women, Youths Through Skill Acquisition Programme, Disburses Start-Up Capital

The Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Zone 2 Command, has partnered with Chioma Emmanuel Global Ministry to organise a skill acquisition and empowerment programme targeted at promoting self-reliance, economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods among women and youths in Lagos and Ogun States.

The empowerment initiative, which drew beneficiaries from across both states, featured practical, hands-on training in a wide range of vocations, including soap and insecticide production, anointing oil making, shoe and bag making, makeup artistry, and bead making. The programme was designed to enhance participants’ capacity for self-employment, small-scale business development and basic financial literacy.

A major highlight of the event was the disbursement of start-up capital to selected participants who successfully completed the one-day training. The presentation, which took place at the MD Abubakar Hall, Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, was aimed at enabling beneficiaries to immediately commence and expand their chosen ventures. The gesture underscored POWA Zone 2’s commitment to translating capacity-building initiatives into tangible economic outcomes.

Speaking at the event, the POWA Coordinator, Zone 2, Mrs. Adekemi Fayoade, conveyed the goodwill of the POWA President, Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, and commended Chioma Emmanuel Global Ministry for its partnership and support in ensuring the success of the programme. She stated that the initiative was designed to create a safe and supportive environment where women and youths feel valued, heard and inspired to take charge of their lives through empowerment and motivation.

Also speaking, Prophetess Chioma Emmanuel of Chioma Emmanuel Global Ministry expressed appreciation to POWA Zone 2 for the collaboration and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to initiatives that uplift lives, reduce dependency and promote economic independence.

Mrs. Fayoade further reiterated that POWA Zone 2, under her leadership, will continue to partner with credible organisations and stakeholders to deliver impactful empowerment programmes that complement the Nigeria Police Force’s community-oriented policing and social responsibility efforts.
