ADC Inaugurates South-West Zonal Working Committee in Ibadan, Reaffirms Unity and Party Growth

Ibadan, Oyo State – February 11, 2026:
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated its South-West Zonal Working Committee, marking a significant step towards strengthening the party’s regional structure and enhancing coordination across the zone.

The inauguration took place on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting at Kakanfo Inn, Ring Road, Ibadan, and drew party leaders, state chairmen and stakeholders from the six South-West states.

The event was presided over by senior party officials, including the National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who led deliberations aimed at consolidating the party’s presence and organisational capacity in the region.

Chairmen of the party in Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo states presented reports on the ADC’s structure, grassroots penetration and readiness for future political engagements. The presentations, which began with Ekiti State Chairman Hon. Ilesanmi Omolayo and concluded with Lagos State Chairman Hon. Ashiru George, highlighted growing stability and renewed momentum within the party across the zone.

In his address, Aregbesola urged elected party officials and stakeholders to remain committed to building a disciplined, united and well-coordinated ADC in the South-West and nationwide. He emphasised unity, internal cohesion and continuous engagement with the national leadership as essential to ensuring proper harmonisation and validation of party structures in all states.

The meeting also featured the formal reading and inauguration of South-West representatives currently serving in national leadership positions of the party. They include Akinbolawale Omole (National Vice Chairman, Ekiti), Captain Tunji Shelle (National Director, Communication and Programmes, Lagos), Prof. Bode Ayorinde (Diversity and Inclusion Secretary, Ondo), Fabiyi Oladimeji (Deputy National Financial Secretary, Ogun), Alhaja Khafilat Omolabake Olayiwola (Deputy National Women Leader, Oyo), Olufemi Adeleye (Deputy Coordinator, Diaspora, Ekiti) and Mrs. Yidiat Omolara Oseni (Assistant National Organising Secretary, Osun).

Newly appointed members of the South-West Zonal Working Committee were also introduced, including Architect Basiru Aremu Lawal (Assistant National Secretary), Lady Lydia Omarisola Olafunmiloye (Assistant National Woman Leader, South-West, Ondo) and Mrs. Elizabeth Adeola Olusi (Assistant National Youth Leader, South-West, Lagos).

Party leaders expressed optimism that the inauguration of the zonal committee would enhance leadership efficiency, promote democratic ideals and drive coordinated political engagement across the region.

They reaffirmed the ADC’s commitment to strengthening internal party structures, deepening democratic values and positioning the party as a credible platform for national development.
