 Ogun Government Unveils ₦1bn AI-Powered Digital Classroom Project for Remo Secondary School

Sagamu, Ogun State – The Ogun State Government has unveiled plans to construct a 900-capacity, Artificial Intelligence-enabled digital learning complex at Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, as part of efforts to deepen technology-driven education across the state.

Governor Dapo Abiodun announced the initiative during activities marking the school’s 80th anniversary, describing the proposed ₦1 billion project as a strategic investment in modern learning infrastructure aimed at equipping students with skills for a fast-evolving, knowledge-based global economy.

According to the governor, the AI-driven digital classroom will complement existing smart-education initiatives at the institution, which already boasts a functional resource centre and a state-of-the-art robotics laboratory designed to foster innovation, critical thinking, and digital proficiency among students.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the school’s continued development, Abiodun pledged ₦100 million in financial support, with ₦50 million to be released immediately to kick-start ongoing projects. He assured stakeholders that at least one of the outlined projects would be completed before the end of his tenure.

The governor also disclosed that the state government had upgraded the school’s science laboratories with modern equipment and teaching aids to enhance practical learning and ensure improved safety standards.

In addition, renovation works have been completed on both the male and female hostels to improve accommodation conditions, strengthen security, and enhance the overall welfare of boarding students.

Describing Remo Secondary School as a symbol of enduring legacy and excellence, Abiodun noted that the 80th anniversary celebration was not merely a commemoration of years, but a recognition of the institution’s long-standing contribution to nurturing generations of leaders and professionals.

He commended members of the school’s old students’ association for their steadfast support and contributions, emphasizing that their involvement reflects a shared commitment to sustaining the school’s heritage.

The governor added that the various projects undertaken at the school underscore his administration’s belief in education as a cornerstone of sustainable development and the importance of collaboration among government, alumni, and the broader community.

Abiodun further revealed that Remo Secondary School has been designated as one of Ogun State’s model schools, urging students to remain focused, uphold strong moral values, and continue the institution’s tradition of academic excellence.
