AIG Olatunji Disu Assumes Duty as Head of FCID Annex, Alagbon

Lagos, Nigeria — February 9, 2026 — Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Olatunji Disu has formally assumed duty as the 55th officer in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.

His appointment took effect from February 9, 2026, succeeding AIG Margaret Ochalla, who is currently attending a short-term professional training programme in the United States.

A native of Lagos State, AIG Disu is a seasoned police officer with over 30 years of experience spanning operational, investigative and strategic policing. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Lagos State University, multiple Master’s degrees in Public Administration and in Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology, as well as an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Investigation.

He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and has since served in several key leadership positions across the country. His previous postings include Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos, Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, and Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Special Protection Unit (SPU).

AIG Disu’s tenure as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad between 2015 and 2021 earned widespread national and regional recognition for effective urban crime control and operational excellence.

Speaking on assumption of duty, AIG Disu expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the confidence reposed in him.

“I appreciate the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for counting me worthy of this opportunity to serve in this capacity,” he said, adding that he was “excited to be in Lagos.”

He pledged a zero-tolerance stance against corruption and vowed to strengthen the operational and investigative capacity of the FCID Annex. He also called for the support of stakeholders, sister security agencies and members of the public in the collective fight against crime and the promotion of justice.
