Nigeria Customs Launches Online M&E Reporting System for AEO Programme

Abuja, Nigeria — The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched an online Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Reporting System to strengthen transparency, accountability, and performance assessment under its Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme.

The new digital platform is designed to collect structured, data-driven feedback from AEO-certified companies as the programme continues to expand in scope, participation, and impact. According to Customs, proactive monitoring and evaluation have become critical to sustaining the gains recorded in supply chain security and improved ease of doing business.

The online M&E system captures detailed insights on operational and procedural challenges faced by AEOs, including clearance times, predictability of cargo processing, trade facilitation efficiency, and measurable benefits such as cost savings and revenue optimisation. It also documents the experiences of AEO companies in their interactions with Other Government Agencies (OGAs) involved in cargo clearance and trade facilitation.

Customs explained that AEO-certified companies will submit feedback through their designated client relationship managers, ensuring that reports are based on real transaction experiences. This approach, the Service noted, will support evidence-based evaluation of programme performance while reinforcing continuous improvement across Customs operations.

Call for Participation

The Nigeria Customs Service has called on all AEO-certified companies to actively participate by completing the online M&E report sheet. The Service stressed that consistent, objective feedback from programme beneficiaries will guide future enhancements and help ensure that the AEO Programme continues to deliver meaningful trade facilitation benefits, while also supporting Customs’ regulatory oversight and revenue generation objectives.
