GTCO Headlines 2026 NPA Lagos International Polo Tournament as Main Sponsor

Lagos, Nigeria – February 3, 2026
Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) has reaffirmed its commitment to sports development, heritage preservation and premium lifestyle experiences by emerging as the main sponsor of the 2026 NPA Lagos International Polo Tournament, one of Africa’s oldest and most prestigious polo competitions.

GTCO Plc, listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX: GTCO) and the London Stock Exchange (LSE: GTCO), announced that the 2026 edition of the tournament will hold at the Lagos Polo Club, Ikoyi, from Tuesday, January 27 to Sunday, February 15, 2026, drawing elite polo teams, enthusiasts and dignitaries from Nigeria and across the globe.

The highly anticipated tournament will feature top-tier teams competing for major honours, including the Majekodunmi Cup, Independence Cup, Open Cup, Silver Cup and Low Cup, among others. Beyond the sporting action, guests are expected to enjoy a blend of high-octane equestrian competition, polo-inspired lifestyle exhibitions, and carefully curated hospitality experiences, reinforcing the event’s reputation as a premium social and sporting spectacle.

To expand global reach and inclusivity, the tournament will also be livestreamed, enabling international audiences to experience the excitement and elegance of African polo in real time.

Speaking on GTCO’s continued sponsorship, Mr. Segun Agbaje, Group Chief Executive Officer of GTCO, described the tournament as a celebration of values deeply aligned with the brand’s identity.

“This tournament, one of the oldest in Africa, celebrates not only the noble sport of polo but the values we hold dear as a brand — teamwork, discipline, fair play and a commitment to excellence,” Agbaje said. “Beyond the field, it showcases Nigeria and Africa to a global audience, reinforcing the continent’s place on the world stage. Our longstanding sponsorship reflects our belief that sport can amplify opportunity, foster meaningful connections and deliver world-class experiences.”

The NPA Lagos International Polo Tournament has, over the decades, become synonymous with sporting excellence, cultural heritage and elite social engagement within Africa’s equestrian community. GTCO’s sustained involvement underscores its broader corporate philosophy of creating impactful platforms that unite communities, promote excellence and support social and cultural development across diverse audiences.

With GTCO once again at the forefront, the 2026 edition of the tournament is expected to further elevate Nigeria’s profile as a destination for world-class sporting and lifestyle events.
