Ikorodu APC Power Brokers Rally Behind Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid

Ikorodu, Lagos — In a major early signal ahead of the 2027 general elections, key political figures and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Division, including Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, Hon. Babajimi Benson, Hon. Adedayo Abayomi Abdul-Lateef Ladega, Omo'oba Olalekan Aroyewun, and other party leaders, have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), formally endorsing him for a second term in office.

The endorsement was sealed at a massive stakeholders’ rally held at the Ikorodu Town Hall, drawing APC leaders and supporters from Ikorodu Central, Ikorodu West, Ikorodu North, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Ijede, and Imota Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), in what party leaders described as a coordinated grassroots mobilisation drive.

Speaking at the rally, Senator Abiru, who represents Lagos East Senatorial District, described Ikorodu as a political stronghold with a consistent history of progressive alignment since the creation of Lagos State. According to him, the gathering was not symbolic but a clear declaration of readiness ahead of 2027.

“Ikorodu is awake, united, and prepared to mobilise its people to speak with one voice in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Abiru stated.

The Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, who led members of the state executive council to the event, applauded the division’s organisational strength, noting that Ikorodu’s early alignment sets the pace for other parts of the state.

“This level of preparedness does not surprise me. Ikorodu has always led while others follow,” Ojelabi said.

Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Onafowokan Bolaji Titilola (Lt. Col. rtd), framed the endorsement as a vote of confidence in Tinubu’s tested leadership, citing decades of governance experience and visible development outcomes across Lagos State and at the federal level.

“This is about conviction in a leader whose vision has stood the test of time,” Titilola remarked.

On his part, Hon. Adedayo Abayomi Abdul-Lateef Ladega, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, credited the Tinubu administration with policies that have strengthened local governance nationwide. He urged party members and residents to prioritise PVC registration as part of early election preparedness.

Adding a legislative perspective, Hon. Babajimi Benson, member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, pointed to flagship initiatives such as the Student Loan Scheme (NELFUND), the creation of LCDAs, and major infrastructure projects as indicators of what he called President Tinubu’s “mental magnitude” in governance.

He specifically referenced the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, describing it as a bold, long-term national investment already under construction from both ends.

The rally concluded with a collective pledge by APC leaders, including Abiru, Benson, Aroyewun, Ladega, and other stakeholders, to sustain mobilisation efforts across Ikorodu Division as part of what they termed the Ikorodu Unity Campaign for Asiwaju 2027.
