Oyo Government Denies Kidnapping Incident at Kishi Nursing College, Reaffirms Campus Security

The Oyo State Government has debunked reports of an alleged kidnapping at the College of Nursing campus in Kishi, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on February 22, 2026, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, said the panic stemmed from an unfounded alarm raised by certain individuals, which created fear among students, lecturers and residents within the institution.

Olayiwola assured parents, students and members of the public that no kidnapping incident occurred at the college, stressing that the state government remains committed to ensuring the safety of all educational institutions across Oyo State.

“The safety of students and staff remains a top priority of this administration,” he said, warning that those responsible for spreading malicious rumours should desist, as disseminating false information online constitutes a punishable cybercrime.

Similarly, the Provost of the , Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, described the report as misinformation capable of causing unnecessary panic.

The institution’s management stated that after conducting an internal review and verifying with security personnel, it was confirmed that no kidnapping took place on the campus. It added that security agencies have commenced efforts to trace the source of the rumour while strengthening surveillance and monitoring around the college to prevent future false alarms.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, urged parents and guardians to remain calm and to verify information through official communication channels of the state government and the institution before reacting to unverified reports.
