OYRLEA Issues Final 14-Day Ultimatum to Durantee Farm Over Environmental Infractions in Ibadan

The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has issued a fresh 14-day compliance notice to Durantee Farm Limited, located in the Challenge area of Ibadan, over its alleged failure to address environmental violations previously identified by regulators.

The notice was served by OYRLEA in collaboration with health officers from the Oyo State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources during a follow-up inspection conducted on February 9, 2026.

The inspection followed the expiration of an earlier 21-day Notice to Abate Nuisance, which was issued to the company on November 10, 2025. The initial enforcement action was reportedly prompted by concerns over improper wastewater management and the discharge of untreated effluents into public water bodies.

According to the Authority, the latest visit revealed that no visible corrective measures had been initiated by the company, particularly regarding the reconstruction, structural modification, and covering of its open Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), which had been flagged during the earlier inspection.

Responding to the enforcement team, the Human Resources and Administration Manager of Durantee Farm, Alhaji Ebunade Oloyeede, stated that the company had engaged a consultant to prepare upgrade plans for the facility. He added that a letter had been submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources seeking approval for the proposed improvements but claimed that the company had yet to receive a response, resulting in the delay.

Following the interaction, OYRLEA directed the firm to report to the Authority within 14 days with verifiable evidence of the consultant’s engagement, detailed project drawings, and proof of submission of its correspondence to the ministry.

The Authority warned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe would attract further enforcement actions in accordance with relevant environmental and public health laws of Oyo State.

OYRLEA reiterated its commitment to upholding environmental standards and protecting the health and wellbeing of residents across the state.
