Pheelz Takes Centre Stage on Glo-Sponsored African Voices on CNN
Nigerian music producer and singer Pheelz will headline this weekend’s edition of African Voices Changemakers, the flagship magazine programme on CNN International , sponsored by telecommunications giant Globacom.
The 30-minute special premieres on Saturday, February 21, 2026, with journalist Larry Madowo leading an in-depth conversation on the artiste’s journey from church musician to global Afrobeats star.
At 31, Pheelz has built a reputation as one of the leading producers shaping contemporary African music. He began his career as a multi-instrumentalist in church before rising to prominence in 2012 after producing hit tracks for rapper Olamide , including “First of All” and “Fucking with the Devil.” His work quickly earned industry recognition, and by 2013 he was listed among NotJustOk’s “Top 10 Hottest Producers in Nigeria.”
Pheelz further cemented his status with his extensive production credits on Olamide’s album Baddest Guy Ever Liveth, which earned nominations at and recognition at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2020, he won Producer of the Year at The Headies, affirming his influence in the industry.
His transition from producer to performing artiste gained global traction with the 2021 hit “Finesse,” featuring . The track won Best Collaboration at the Soundcity MVP Awards and became an international anthem, further expanding the global reach of Afrobeats.
During the interview, Pheelz reflects on his artistic growth, the role of faith in his career, and the evolving music landscape shaped by technology and Artificial Intelligence. He emphasises the importance of authenticity and cultural identity in a rapidly changing industry.
The programme will air at 8:30 a.m. West African Time on DStv Channel 401 on Saturday, with repeat broadcasts at 12:00 noon the same day; Sunday at 4:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.; Monday at 4:00 a.m. and 6:45 p.m.; and Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. The broadcast schedule continues through the following Monday.
The feature is expected to spotlight not only Pheelz’s achievements but also the growing global influence of Afrobeats as a defining sound of contemporary African culture.
