SAPETRO Donates ₦1 Billion to LSSTF to Strengthen Lagos Security Infrastructure

In a significant boost to public safety efforts in Lagos South Atlantic Petroleum, (SAPETRO) has donated ₦1 billion to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund  (LSSTF) to strengthen security infrastructure and enhance community safety across the state.

The landmark donation follows a recent private security breakfast meeting convened by the Governor of Lagos State, , where SAPETRO was among selected corporate stakeholders invited to deliberate on strategies for reinforcing the state’s security framework.

The high-level meeting brought together key private-sector leaders, security experts, and government officials, reflecting a shared commitment to safeguarding residents, businesses, and critical infrastructure in Nigeria’s commercial capital.

SAPETRO, one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous exploration and production companies with operations spanning over 74,000 square kilometres across West Africa, described the donation as part of its enduring commitment to responsible corporate citizenship. The contribution ranks among the largest single private-sector donations to the LSSTF in recent years, underscoring the company’s recognition of the strong link between security, economic growth, and social stability.

Reacting to the gesture, the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, expressed profound appreciation to SAPETRO for what he described as a landmark intervention in support of Lagos security operations.

According to him, the ₦1 billion donation will significantly strengthen ongoing security initiatives, including the procurement of essential equipment, improved logistics support, and enhanced operational capacity for security agencies across the state.

Dr. Ogunsan described the contribution as “a demonstration of visionary corporate leadership,” noting that it aligns with the governor’s call for increased private-sector collaboration in sustaining Lagos’ security architecture.

He emphasized that protecting Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre requires robust public-private partnerships, adding that donations of this magnitude not only enhance the Fund’s effectiveness but also set a strong example for other corporate organizations to follow.

With the substantial contribution, SAPETRO further solidifies its reputation not only as a major player in Nigeria’s energy sector but also as a socially responsible organization committed to national development.

The LSSTF confirmed that the funds will be strategically deployed to address priority security needs, with the overarching goal of delivering improved safety outcomes for millions of residents and businesses across Lagos State.
