Senator Tokunbo Abiru Commissions New Classroom Blocks in Five Ikorodu Schools
Ikorodu, Lagos – Communities across Imota, Ikorodu West and Ikorodu North Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) have lauded Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru for delivering newly constructed classroom blocks in five public schools, a move aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure and enhancing learning outcomes in Lagos East Senatorial District.
The beneficiary schools include UNA Primary School, Igbalu in Imota LCDA; Anglican Primary School, Isawo; Ipakodo Senior Grammar School; Local Government Primary School, Ipakodo; and Farm Settlement Primary School, Odogunyan.
The projects were commissioned on behalf of the senator by the executive chairmen of the respective LCDAs: Ameen Apanishile (Ikorodu North LCDA), Sulaimon Kazeem (Ikorodu West LCDA), and Sunday Benson (Imota LCDA). The council bosses commended Senator Abiru for responding to the growing educational needs of the people and for complementing ongoing efforts to strengthen public education infrastructure and human capital development within the district.
Represented at the commissioning ceremonies by his Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Otunba Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, PhD, Senator Abiru reiterated his commitment to delivering impactful projects that benefit the majority of his constituents. He noted that the classroom blocks form part of several educational interventions he has facilitated across Lagos East and assured residents that additional projects are underway.
The senator also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for providing the enabling support that made the projects possible, highlighting the President’s dedication to national development. He further appreciated the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for sustained efforts to improve learning outcomes through strategic educational initiatives.
In his remarks, the Education Secretary of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu, Hon. Taiwo Odumbo, praised Senator Abiru’s performance in the education sector, describing his representation at the National Assembly as outstanding. He noted that Ikorodu Division and the wider Lagos East Senatorial District are fortunate to have the senator as their representative in the upper legislative chamber.
Head teachers, parents, pupils, members of the School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs), and Community Development Associations (CDAs) also expressed appreciation for the intervention. They stated that the new classroom facilities would significantly improve pupils’ comfort, boost morale, and enhance academic performance.
Community leaders described the projects as inclusive and strategically distributed across multiple communities to ensure broader access to quality public education in Ikorodu Division.
