Tincan Island Port Command Records ₦1.6trn Revenue in 2025, Honours Outstanding Customs Officers

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tincan Island Port Command, Apapa, has achieved a major operational milestone with the collection of ₦1.609 trillion in revenue for the 2025 fiscal year, exceeding its annual target by over ₦85.2 billion, as the Command honoured deserving officers at a colourful award ceremony in Lagos.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tincan Island Port Command, Apapa, has recorded a total revenue collection of ₦1,609,874,328,972.55 for the 2025 fiscal year, marking one of the highest performances in the Command’s history.

The Comptroller of the Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, disclosed this on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, during an award ceremony organised at the Command’s headquarters in Lagos to recognise officers whose dedication and professionalism contributed to the record-breaking achievement.

According to Comptroller Onyeka, the amount collected exceeded the Command’s approved revenue target of ₦1,524,669,999,478.52 by ₦85,204,329,494.03, underscoring improved efficiency, transparency and compliance in port operations.

Describing the feat as a product of teamwork rather than individual effort, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) stressed that collective responsibility and shared commitment were central to the Command’s success.

“A tree can never make a forest. I could not have done it alone. Too much has been given to us, and much is expected. Our officers truly deserve appreciation for their tireless efforts,” he said.

He explained that the award ceremony reflected a renewed institutional culture within the Nigeria Customs Service, aimed at recognising diligence, professionalism and accountability among officers.

The CAC also highlighted key operational reforms introduced by the Command to enhance trade facilitation and internal efficiency, particularly the B’Odogwu clearance system and the Time Release Study (TRS). He noted that the TRS was designed to eliminate unnecessary delays in port procedures while improving service delivery.

Comptroller Onyeka further disclosed that the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, recently launched the official Time Release Study assessment report at the just-concluded ICD 2026, with the Tincan Island Port Command’s performance serving as a major highlight of the report.

He added that the achievement has strengthened the Command’s resolve to accelerate legitimate trade while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.

The CAC expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, stakeholders, industry partners and officers of the Command for sustaining confidence and cooperation despite prevailing economic and operational challenges.

Speaking on behalf of the award recipients, the Deputy Comptroller (Administration), Essien Esiet, described the recognition as both an honour and a call to greater responsibility, pledging renewed commitment to professionalism and service excellence.

The event featured the presentation of awards to outstanding officers in recognition of their contributions to revenue generation and operational effectiveness at the nation’s premier port.
