All Progressives Congress Lagos Swears In New Executives, Vows to Double Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2023 Votes in 2027
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has pledged to at least double the votes secured by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election during the 2027 general elections, as the party swore in its newly elected state executive members in Lagos.
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its newly elected state executive committee, with a strong commitment to consolidate the party’s dominance and significantly increase the votes secured by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony held at the party’s state secretariat in Acme, Ogba, Lagos, the APC State Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, said the new executives were assuming office at a crucial period as the party prepares for the next electoral cycle.
According to him, the leadership of the party in Lagos is determined to repay the support and opportunities provided by President Tinubu, whom he credited with creating political platforms for party members to thrive and spearheading monumental development in the state.
Ojelabi noted that the new executives would play a critical role in strengthening the party’s structure and ensuring its continued electoral success.
“All eyes are on this new leadership to see whether we will be able to build on the achievements of the party and sustain the dominance that the APC has enjoyed in Lagos since 1999,” he said.
He urged party leaders and members to put aside factional interests and embrace unity of purpose in order to deliver victory for the party in the 2027 elections.
The chairman also advised members of the executive council to remain actively involved at the grassroots level by regularly attending ward and local government meetings.
According to him, maintaining strong engagement across the party’s structure will ensure that the APC operates as one united family ahead of the polls.
Ojelabi further expressed confidence that the administration of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, would continue to provide an enabling environment that would strengthen the party’s performance in future elections.
Meanwhile, 37 executive members of the party emerged during the recently concluded State Congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.
The officials were formally endorsed and sworn in to steer the affairs of the party in the state as it intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, the APC Vice Chairman for the Lagos Central Senatorial District emphasised that members of the state executive would serve as a bridge between the state leadership and party structures at the local government level.
He explained that the executives, drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state, are expected to relay developments within their respective local governments to the state leadership while also communicating party decisions back to the grassroots.
According to him, the arrangement will ensure inclusiveness and strengthen coordination within the party structure.
He stressed that while government officials operate within public institutions, the party remains the foundation that produces political leaders, noting that party supremacy remains central to the APC’s organisational structure.
