Aroyewun Grades Over 20 Roads in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Boosts Access Within Eight Months

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has delivered on key campaign promises with the grading of more than 20 inner roads across communities, a move aimed at improving accessibility and stimulating local economic activity within eight months of his administration.

The large-scale road grading project forms a core component of the administration’s GLORY Agenda, which prioritises infrastructure development as a driver of socio-economic growth at the grassroots.

Residents in several parts of the LCDA have begun to experience improved mobility following the intervention, which covered major inner roads and residential streets including Olumo Major Road, Osasona Babatope Avenue, Ebenezer Ola Gbangbose Crescent, Abayomi Olushile Crescent, Folawuyo Avenue, Alhaji Adewale Street, Bayewo Orimisan, Ochele Oga, Michael Odumade Street, Samsideen Ipaye Street, and Olayinka Abioye Street.

The council also executed a coordinated grading of nine roads within Shared Divine Estate Community Development Association (CDA), including Mike’s Street, Albert Enomah Road, and Roads C, D, E, G, G Extension, H, and I. The intervention has opened up the estate, enhanced vehicular movement, and improved safety while increasing property value.

Officials confirmed that the grading exercise is ongoing, with additional communities already earmarked as part of a broader plan to ensure equitable infrastructure development across the LCDA.

Beyond road grading, the administration has carried out targeted palliative works at Ojubode Junction along Obafemi Awolowo Way to ease traffic congestion. Rehabilitation projects have also been completed on Olayinka Street and Oliwo Amoju Street, both identified as priority roads in the council’s infrastructure blueprint.

Further palliative work on Baiyeku Road reflects efforts to balance improvements between inner community roads and major connecting routes.

Residents have welcomed the interventions, noting that previously inaccessible roads are now motorable, improving access to schools, healthcare facilities, markets, and other economic centres.

The council chairman’s ongoing infrastructure drive is widely seen as a significant step toward enhancing connectivity and delivering people-oriented governance at the grassroots level.
