Fidelity Bank Plc has expanded its presence in Kebbi State with the inauguration of a new branch in Kamba, Dandi Local Government Area, a move hailed by residents as a major step toward improving access to financial services for farmers, traders, and households.

The Chairman of Dandi Local Government, Dr. Mansur Isah-Kamba, represented by Council Secretary Alhaji Abdulkadir Muhammad, described the branch as a relief for residents who previously had to travel to Birnin Kebbi for routine banking. “With the opening of this branch, the stress, cost, and time associated with banking outside the community will be significantly reduced,” he said, while commending Fidelity Bank for supporting agricultural activities and small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs).

Alhaji Mahmoud Zarumai-Fana, Sarkin Shikon of Kamba, noted that the predominantly farming community will benefit from closer access to financial services. “Farmers need support such as pumping machines, fertilisers, and pesticides. Access to banking services will make it easier to save, access loans, and participate in agricultural intervention programmes,” he said.

At the inauguration, Mr. Muhammad Lawal-Ahijo, Regional Bank Head, North-West Region, Fidelity Bank, highlighted the strategic importance of the branch. “Our decision to establish this branch is rooted in our belief that every community deserves reliable financial services. Kamba is a thriving agricultural community, and this branch is an investment in its farmers, traders, and households. While the infrastructure is for the bank, this branch belongs to the community, and we encourage residents to take full advantage of the services available,” he said.

Dr. Abubakar Suleiman-Fana, a member of the Kebbi State House of Assembly representing Dandi Constituency, described the new branch as a milestone for rural financial inclusion. “Financial inclusion is critical to rural development, and farmers, traders, and youths must leverage this opportunity to grow their businesses and improve their economic well-being,” he stated.

Residents echoed their excitement. Mrs. Hassana Abubakar, a petty trader, said she no longer has to close her shop to travel to Birnin Kebbi for banking transactions. “Now I can do my banking here without losing a whole day’s business. This will help my shop grow,” she said.

The Kamba branch reinforces Fidelity Bank’s commitment to advancing financial inclusion, supporting rural economies, and empowering farmers and SMEs across Nigeria. The bank serves over 10 million customers through its 255 business offices in Nigeria, digital banking channels, and its United Kingdom subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited.
