The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and youth empowerment, as community youth leaders pledged support for ongoing developmental initiatives.
In a bid to deepen engagement with young people across the council area, the Supervisor for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Hakeem Oluwole Balogun, convened a strategic meeting with youth representatives from various communities in Ibeju-Lekki.
Hon. Balogun, who represented the chairman at the session, described the forum as a deliberate effort to foster open dialogue and strengthen collaboration between the local government and its youthful population. The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to articulate their concerns, aspirations, and ideas directly to the administration.
Reaffirming the chairman’s position, Balogun conveyed Hon. Olowa’s resolve to prioritise youth development through structured programmes aimed at unlocking their potential and promoting active participation in governance. He noted that the administration considers young people as vital stakeholders in driving sustainable growth and transformation within the local government.
The supervisor also underscored the importance of civic responsibility, urging youth leaders to mobilise eligible individuals in their communities to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs). He stressed that active participation in the electoral process remains a critical pathway for youths to influence leadership and policy direction.
Responding, the youth representatives commended the Olowa-led administration for its inclusive approach and accessibility, describing the engagement as timely and impactful. They pledged their continued cooperation and support for the successful implementation of youth-focused initiatives across the council.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, reinforcing mutual commitment between the local government and youth stakeholders toward advancing development in Ibeju-Lekki.
