Segun Dada Pledges Stronger Federal Presence in Ikorodu, Empowers Market Women, Commissions Water Project
The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, has pledged increased federal presence in Ikorodu Division following a high-impact visit to Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), where he empowered market women, commissioned a community water project, and supported solar-powered infrastructure.
In a move aimed at deepening grassroots development, Dada made the commitment on Monday during his official visit to the council secretariat, where he was received by the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, alongside key government officials, youth representatives, and community stakeholders.
The presidential aide commended residents of Ikorodu Division for their active participation in Nigeria’s democratic process, particularly during the last general elections, noting that such civic engagement positions communities for increased federal attention.
“I am willing and ready to collaborate with this administration to bring more federal presence and development to Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA and the entire Ikorodu Division,” Dada said.
As part of immediate interventions, Dada empowered 12 market women with grants of ₦100,000 each to support and expand their businesses. Beneficiaries described the initiative as timely, especially amid prevailing economic pressures.
In a major infrastructure boost, Dada also commissioned a borehole water project in the Ire community, facilitated by the Ikorodu Youth Assembly to mark the 54th birthday of Babajimi Benson, who represents Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The project is expected to improve access to clean water for hundreds of households, addressing a longstanding community need and contributing to better public health outcomes.
To ensure sustainability, the presidential aide supported the installation of a solar power system to energise both the water facility and surrounding street infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, Aroyewun described the visit as a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between federal and local authorities.
“This engagement goes beyond protocol; it represents a pathway to practical collaboration that will accelerate infrastructure delivery, empower our people, and expand opportunities across our communities,” he said.
The visit underscored the importance of strategic partnerships in delivering tangible benefits at the grassroots level, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the renewed collaboration will drive further development in infrastructure, youth empowerment, and social investment across Ikorodu Division.
