JMG Promotes Solar Adoption, Sustainable Engineering with Lagos Walk

JMG Limited has intensified its push for sustainable engineering and solar adoption with a high-impact Engineering Walk in Lagos, bringing industry stakeholders, students, and professionals together to advocate cleaner, more reliable energy solutions.

Nigeria’s leading integrated electro-mechanical solutions provider, JMG Limited, has taken its sustainability advocacy beyond corporate boardrooms into the streets, organising an Engineering Walk to promote sustainable engineering practices and inclusive energy solutions.

The initiative, held to mark the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, commenced from the company’s head office in Victoria Island and drew participation from engineering students of University of Lagos and Yaba College of Technology, alongside members of professional bodies including the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) and the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE).

The turnout underscored a growing collective commitment to advancing engineering solutions that are not only innovative but also sustainable, practical, and accessible.

Speaking during the event, Chief Commercial Officer, Rabi Jammal, highlighted the broader vision behind the initiative, noting that sustainable engineering goes beyond solar energy to encompass systems that are efficient, durable, and capable of supporting long-term development.

He explained that while solar energy remains a critical component, the overarching goal is to integrate sustainability into wider engineering systems that power homes, industries, and infrastructure.

Against the backdrop of rising energy costs and persistent power supply challenges in Nigeria, JMG continues to advocate engineering-driven solutions that reduce dependence on expensive and environmentally harmful energy sources.

The company’s operations span power generation, electrical infrastructure, vertical transportation, cooling systems, and air compressors—reflecting a holistic engineering approach focused on efficiency, reduced energy consumption, and environmental responsibility.

Within this framework, solar energy is positioned as a key enabler due to its affordability, reliability, and compatibility with integrated systems across residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

JMG emphasised that initiatives like the Engineering Walk are designed to democratise access to these solutions, ensuring they extend beyond large organisations to everyday Nigerians, including residents in smaller homes and apartments.

Plant Manager, Fouad El Chami, reinforced this position, stating that sustainable engineering requires continuous innovation in energy usage and system integration, with solar playing a vital role in reducing consumption and supporting environmental sustainability.

He added that in the face of mounting concerns around energy reliability, cost, and environmental impact, integrated engineering solutions backed by cleaner energy sources are essential for building a more resilient future.

As participants moved through Victoria Island, the central message remained clear: Nigeria’s energy future depends on a unified approach where engineering innovation, sustainability, and accessibility work together to deliver lasting impact.
