Olohundare Jimoh Urges Integrity as Screening Begins for 50,000 Police Constable Recruitment in Lagos
The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has charged officials overseeing the screening of successful applicants for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables to uphold the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and transparency throughout the exercise in Lagos State.
The Commissioner gave the charge on Sunday while receiving the credentials and physical screening team for Lagos applicants at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja.
The team, made up of officers from the Nigeria Police Force and personnel of the Police Service Commission, is responsible for supervising the ongoing recruitment process aimed at strengthening the nation’s policing capacity with 50,000 new constables.
Speaking during the meeting, Jimoh emphasised the importance of strict adherence to the established guidelines governing the exercise, noting that the credibility of the recruitment process must be protected.
He stressed that the screening must be conducted with the highest level of professionalism and transparency in order to maintain public confidence in both the Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force.
The police screening team is led by Adebisi Balogun, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, while the Police Service Commission delegation is headed by Chief Administrative Officer Eleyinmi Akinola.
According to the command, the teams are working alongside other stakeholders including the Federal Character Commission and the Police Community Relations Committee to ensure the exercise is conducted smoothly and credibly.
The command also warned applicants and members of the public to be wary of fraudsters who may attempt to exploit the recruitment process.
It reiterated that the screening exercise is entirely free of charge and cautioned applicants against paying money to anyone promising to influence the process.
Applicants have been advised to adhere strictly to their scheduled screening dates and times and to present all required documents, including their invitation slip, credentials screening form, National Identity Number printout or card issued by the National Identity Management Commission, and relevant academic certificates.
Other required documents include birth certificates or declarations of age, certificates of origin, duly completed guarantors’ forms with attached passport photographs, and neatly packaged original and duplicate copies of credentials in white flat files.
The command further directed applicants to log in to the recruitment portal npfapplication.psc.gov.ng to check their application status and print essential documents such as the application submission slip, invitation slip, guarantors form, credentials screening form and physical screening form before attending the exercise.
Authorities said strict compliance with the guidelines would ensure a smooth and successful screening process across the state.
