Olowa Champions Women Empowerment at Lagos Business School International Women’s Day Event

Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos – 9 March 2026 – The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, delivered an inspiring address at the Lagos Business School (LBS) during its International Women’s Day celebration. The event, held at the Honeywell Auditorium, carried the theme “Raising Women, Raising Communities: The Give to Gain Mandate.”

Hon. Olowa, accompanied by the Supervisors for Education and Environment, Mr. Sodiq Agbaje and Mr. Ogungbo Temitope Sofwan, highlighted the transformative role of women in driving community development and sustainable progress.

Expressing gratitude to the organizers, he noted the invaluable insights gained from the program and showcased key achievements of his administration in women empowerment. Among these is a strategic partnership with Pan Atlantic University, which has benefited over 500 tutorial participants, with more than 250 gaining admission into higher institutions.

Describing women as a “powerful force that multiplies every investment,” Hon. Olowa said, “Women give multiple of what you invest in; they are the true architects of thriving communities.” He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, education, and empowerment programs aimed at strengthening Ibeju-Lekki and Lagos State.

The program also featured a keynote lecture by Mrs. Abolaji Osime, CEO of Global International Secondary and College, who described women as architects of cultural and social ecosystems that sustain vibrant communities. She emphasized the economic value of investing in women, stating, “If you invest $1 in the female gender, expect a $2.8 return on investment.”

Participants engaged with Hon. Olowa during a lively Question and Answer session, discussing participatory governance, community support initiatives, and grassroots development strategies.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Nsima Aladi, who challenged attendees to uplift at least one person in their communities, translating empowerment into tangible societal impact.

International Women’s Day is globally observed to celebrate the achievements of women while advocating for gender equality, social inclusion, and empowerment.
