Seraphic Psychiatric Hospital Rescues Mentally Challenged Persons from Streets, Offers Free Treatment in Anambra
A humanitarian initiative by Seraphic Homes Foundation, founded by Evangelist Ebuka Obi of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, is transforming the lives of mentally challenged individuals rescued from the streets by providing free psychiatric care, shelter, and rehabilitation at a dedicated hospital in Aguleri, Anambra State.
Across many states in Nigeria, thousands of people living with mental health challenges remain without access to treatment, shelter, or medical support, leaving many to struggle daily for survival on the streets.
In response to this growing humanitarian concern, the Seraphic Homes Foundation has established Seraphic Psychiatric Hospital in Aguleri, Anambra State. The facility was created to rescue mentally challenged individuals from the streets and provide them with free comprehensive psychiatric care and rehabilitation.
The initiative is spearheaded by Evangelist Ebuka Obi, the Spiritual Director of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, whose foundation has been actively identifying and rescuing mentally ill individuals across the Southeast.
So far, outreach teams have picked up mentally challenged individuals from several states including Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi, bringing them to the hospital where they receive medical treatment, feeding, accommodation, and social rehabilitation at no cost.
According to the foundation, more than twenty individuals have already been rescued from various locations in Anambra and Imo states. The rescue operations are gradually expanding into other southeastern states and parts of the South-South region.
The project aims not only to provide medical care but also to restore dignity, stability, and hope to vulnerable people who have long been neglected due to untreated mental health conditions.
With continued outreach and medical intervention, the foundation plans to extend its mission across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, ensuring that more people living with mental illness can access proper care and support.
