Margaret Agebe Ochalla Assumes Duty as DIG at Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja

The newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Margaret Agebe Ochalla, has officially assumed duty at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, marking a new phase in the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force’s apex investigative arm.

The Nigeria Police Force has deployed the newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Margaret Agebe Ochalla, to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja.

According to a press statement issued on March 10, 2026, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) by the Force CID Public Relations Officer, SP Funmi Eguaoje, the department formally received the new DIG at its headquarters.

The statement noted that the FCID, alongside its four annexes, warmly welcomed DIG Ochalla to the department upon her arrival at the FCID Complex in Area 10, Garki, Abuja. She was received by senior officers led by Olaolu Adegbite, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the INTERPOL Section.

DIG Ochalla holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology as well as a Master’s degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. Her posting to the department is considered significant given her extensive experience within the FCID structure.

Over the years, she has served in several strategic roles including Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Gender Unit, Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Gender Unit, Commissioner of Police in the Anti-Fraud Section, Commissioner of Police at the Police Special Fraud Unit, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police at the FCID Annex in Lagos.

Police authorities described her deployment as a boost to the department, noting that her experience in handling high-profile and complex investigations aligns with the mandate of the FCID as the apex investigative arm of the Nigeria Police Force.

The statement added that her wealth of experience is expected to strengthen professionalism within the department and enhance its capacity to combat complex crimes across the federation.
