Aroyewun Backs Rep Benson, Dismisses Claims of Opposition Within Justice Forum

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has publicly reaffirmed his support for the continued representation of Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson in the House of Representatives, dismissing claims of internal opposition within the Justice Forum as inaccurate and misleading.

In a statement issued on April 15, Aroyewun rejected reports suggesting that the political group had taken a position against Benson’s re-election bid, describing such claims as a misrepresentation of both his personal stance and the collective position of stakeholders within the LCDA.

According to the council chairman, the Justice Forum remains a “structured and disciplined platform” that does not operate through unauthorized or fragmented voices. He emphasized that feedback from residents, community leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders across Igbogbo/Baiyeku points to sustained and growing support for the lawmaker.

Aroyewun attributed this backing to what he described as Benson’s “visible performance, accessibility, and sustained impact” across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

Highlighting key projects, the chairman cited the facilitation of over 100 roads, including the ongoing 13-kilometre Offin–Oreta Road, as well as several road networks within Igbogbo/Baiyeku such as Ilemere, Olu-Odo, Idi-Oro, Morekete, and Selewu Link Roads.

He also referenced improvements in security through the Smart Police Station in Elepe, advancements in healthcare including the 80-bed Mother and Child Hospital in Imota, and ongoing plans for a Federal Medical Centre in the LCDA.

On social interventions, Aroyewun noted initiatives like the iCare FoodBank, educational grants, ICT programmes, and youth empowerment schemes, alongside the establishment of IKD 106.1FM radio station to enhance grassroots communication.

The chairman further pointed to Benson’s legislative record as Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, noting his sponsorship of over 50 bills, including contributions to reforms in defence and energy sectors.

Aroyewun stressed that the call for Benson’s continuity goes beyond political loyalty, framing it as a strategic decision aimed at sustaining development momentum within the constituency.

“Disrupting that momentum without compelling reason risks reversing hard-earned gains,” he said, adding that the lawmaker has built a development pipeline capable of attracting continued federal presence.

He urged political aspirants to engage the democratic process through the ballot rather than what he described as “manufactured narratives,” maintaining that no responsible political group would undermine a performing representative.

Reaffirming his stance, Aroyewun said his support for Benson is rooted in “verified performance, direct community impact, consistent engagement, and proven leadership capacity.”

He called on residents to remain focused on development and resist divisive narratives, warning that misrepresentation could undermine the progress recorded in Ikorodu Division.

“Supporting his continuity is not just about politics, it is about protecting progress and securing a stronger future,” Aroyewun stated.
